have been playing Tx Hold'em NL for about 2 months now. i do well, but i've noticed my biggest weakness is losing track of a potential flush or str8. what i mean is... that i will have a hand i believe to be a winner and get jackhammered by a flush or str8. on the river no less. i am aware of the potential for those hands 90% of the time, but it's that 10% that get by me that affect my balance the most. anyone else experience that? it's probably just a matter of playing more and being more disciplined.

SoCal... I had that problem at first, when I would look back at how I played a session I realized that it wasn't about experience or disipline as much as the concentration factor. If you're at a live game forget about the conversations and concentrate on the cards and the mannerisms of the players around you. Discovering a players "Tell" can get you a nice pot at the right time.

Good Luck

i suppose it's when you playing on-line with a full table and the games are moving along quickly... you really have to be aware of betting when a second card comes out in the same suit. it's quite common... but alot of people are waiting on the river card to complete their flushes, so it's hard to read betting patterns prior to river. thats what gets me. wham- river card out and flush complete - suddenly the slow bettor has a jackhammer

The more you play the better you will get at this. If you play a game like Omaha you will become much more aware of what the nuts are at any given time and that will translate to your holdem play.

A little cheat is to play with a four color deck. You will see flushes more easily.
